Recent updates in alt finance: profitability, CFPB and Treasury Department
Background :
Perhaps as a sign that the alternative finance and marketplace lending space is maturing, there has been a shift in focus from “building” to “profitability.” We will discuss this change in focus and its implications.
On Tuesday, May 10th the Treasury Department is scheduled to release its findings from last year’s request for information on marketplace lending. Depending on the timing of the release, we hope to have a discussion of our reaction to the findings.
Regardless of the Treasury Department findings, the CFPB is targeting the marketplace lending space for regulation: what does that mean for the industry as a whole?
